Whattupdoe! I’m Candace, a passionate Detroiter and advocate for Black representation in the outdoors. For the past three years, I’ve been curating transformative outdoor experiences in Metro Detroit designed to empower Black individuals and communities to explore, connect with, and thrive in nature.

The outdoors should be a space where everyone feels welcome, yet the lack of diversity in outdoor recreation and industry jobs is undeniable. For too long, systemic barriers and lack of representation have kept many of us from fully experiencing the transformative power of nature. That’s why I’ve dedicated my work to breaking down barriers—whether through guided adventures, skill-building workshops, or advocacy—ensuring Black voices are heard and our presence is celebrated in wild spaces.

From hiking and camping to conservation and outdoor careers, I believe nature has the power to heal, inspire, and create opportunities. My mission is simple: to make the outdoors more accessible, inclusive, and joyful for Black people—one adventure at a time.

Join me in redefining what it means to belong outside.

Mission

At The Black Pack, we believe that the outdoors should be a space of belonging, liberation, and joy for Black communities.

We exist to:

🌿 Create Access – By curating intentional outdoor experiences that center Black voices, cultures, and histories in nature.
🌿 Build Representation – By amplifying Black professionals in outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental leadership.
🌿 Foster Connection – By nurturing a community where Black adventurers, beginners, and experts feel seen, safe, and celebrated in wild spaces.

Through guided adventures, education, and advocacy, we’re reclaiming our right to the outdoors—one trail, one campfire, and one story at a time. Because when Black people thrive outside, everyone’s relationship with nature grows richer.

Join the movement.
The outdoors is ours, too.

Vision

Our vision is a future where the outdoor industry reflects the full diversity of our communities—where Black leadership, joy, and stewardship shape the future of conservation and adventure.
